Why did they make the ending for Jen so damn depressing?

Its one thing to have her tragically die, but they gotta add in she has a new baby raising it on her own as well that is gonna be left without a mother? That felt a bit unnecessary and made it too depressing imo.

I mean her character was always tragic and had the worst stuff happen to her, she had a terrible upbringing, was a promiscuous teenager in the city getting drunk and sleeping around, was an outsider in Capeside, they had her responsible for killing a girl.

Her character just went through so much shit, then in the end they make it where she got pregnant and the father just abandoned her to raise the baby alone, then they give her a fatal heart condition and kill her leaving her baby with no mother. Was just so damn dark and depressing, her character was just constantly having bad shit happen to her, the writers fucking hated her for some reason.
