The episode where Joey gets mugged.
What was up with that? No other cast members were in that episode. Why did they do it? What purpose did it serve?

shareI don't know.
shareIt was supposed to be a suspenseful "bottle" episode that takes place in pretty much one location. "The O.C." had a similarish episode involving an Earthquake.
Just a one off that focuses on one or more characters for a change of pace.
The point was to show that Joey Potter was the most magical and important thing about the entire show. Joey Potter's "it" was so overwhelming that the other characters are just secondary peons. The magic of Joey Potter was the center of the show. We were all supposed to worship on the altar of Joey Potter.
shareExactly thankfully I skipped that episode.
"When life gives you lemons"
Jessica D: sleep with their fathers and have secret lemon childrenÂ
The show started losing its way for me in season 5 and this episode is a prime example. I guess the point was to drive Joey back to reconciling with her father, which happens off screen later that season.
