who did the best job at bad acting (in the play)?

i think Sheila (Catherine O Hara) did the best job playing a bad actress. When her and Ron (Willard) were doing the audition and she mouthed his words as he spoke. Then when she says "Sight for THESE weary eyes" is funny during the play. The best actor (per say) was the old guy... I mean, he actually wasn't that bad.

Who do you think is the best bad actor in the play?

Agree with the OP...Catherine O'Hara was the best bad actor. The narrator was entirely believable.

Personally, I think I have too much bloom. Maybe that's the trouble with me.

Oh they were all so good at being bad it's hard to pick one. But I'd say O'Hara. And the choreography is so horrible, wish they had a razzie for that. When "Johnny" and the DQ girl exchanged lines about going to war, they crossed the stage before every line for no reason at all. I loved it!

I also liked when backstage someone is blow drying the narrator's crotch and she's like I'm sorry and he's like "no, no, that's fine" like he's getting off on it. LOL I love how Guest cuts away from a scene like that so fast that we are just dying of laughter as the next scene begins. Guest is great. I hope he makes more of these films. Rumor has it he's kaput on mockumentaries. :-(

If there's an empty space, just fill it with a line. . even if it's from another show.

This is an unpopular view, but I think Sheila's acting was a too bad to be believable. It was funny as hell, yes, but I think Parker Posey did the best job of being a hysterically bad actor in a way that was also believable - I could actually picture someone in a community theater production being as bad as Libby was. Sheila, on the other hand...I just can't picture it.

I loved when Libby said, "There are times when I feel like I don't really KNOW you."

Catherine O'Hara.

I freaking LOVE when Dr. Pearl slips into like, a Yiddish accent when delivering his lines as Blaine Fabin. Ha.

"Glorioski, Henry!"

Catherine O'Hara. I cracked up during the audition when she was mouthing her husband's lines!

I also love it when Eugene Levy says "this fair key to our city" instead of "this key to our fair city" (subtle but funny)

I also like Fred Willard's "humorous" aside to the audience: "I guess I need a new travel agent!"

And Honorable Mention goes to Parker Posey for almost whipping herself to death with her own ponytail during "Nothing Ever Happens in Blaine"

Me-ow.

Christopher Guest. He just takes himself so incredibly seriously.

Catherine O'Hara was hilarious. When the play first starts, she's yelling all her lines at the top of her lungs, just like an anxious person would do.

I think Eugene Levy did a great job of seeming very amateur (not necessarily awful, but definitely awkward).

Hands down: Catherine O'Hara. "Hush, child...hush." LOL!

I actually like Fred WIllard as a close second. He was a bad actor in a more subtle way. For instance the way he fails to stay in character when Eugene Levvy screws up the line in the "Key to our city" scene. And, then his exaggerated poses in the dialogue leading up to "Nothing ever Happens on Mars."
