I can understand not wanting to put yourself through watching other people make bad choices and being depressed.
about two years ago, one of my sisters friends overdosed on heroin...havent been able to think of this movie the same. My sister doesnt do drugs, so one of her friends dying from such a hardcore drug shocked us. I asked my sister how this happened and she said "She fell in with a bad crowd. Started with drinking and partying with the wrong people". My sister didnt even go to her friends funeral, because she was worried her parents might lump her into that bad crowd as well and blame her. Btw, she left her young son behind. She was a single mother at the time : (
I know this is depressing to read, but it holds a valuable lesson. Do Not hangout with people who do not have your best interest at heart. Make better choices.
I didn't find it depressing.
I found it interesting, different with high artistic merit. (+A great sound track)
Movies are excellent at conveying different points of view and lifestyles. Even if you (like me) have no interest in it, it is always good to watch something every now and then outside your tastes.
Hell, I watched Shampoo (75) a few weeks ago and learned something.
Certain scenes may be depressing, but as a whole it’s far from depressing. Trainspotting is a brilliant, laugh out loud funny, colorful, well written film, whose characters are authentic, vulnerable, and relatable. Requiem for a Dream is depressing (a fantastic film, should be viewed at least once IMO).
