I’ve always been on the fence of the title name for this movie. Never liked it, it always confused me. So I wish there were alternative title names for this one. They don’t have one on imdb. I can’t think of a good name for it, only retarded names come to mind something like related to drugs.
shareI think it's a perfect title, and conveys a sense of how heroin usage takes over a person's life. Keep in mind also that in the book there's a passage, that did not make it into the film, where Begbie and... another character I can't recall... are in an abandoned train station, and a filthy bum approaches and jokingly asks if they're trainspotting. The other character realizes the bum is Begbie's father, but feels too ashamed for him to admit noticing it. That passage, while short, is full of significance, and it makes sense that Welsh took that notion of trainspotting as a metaphor for a life wasted on heroin as the title of the book.
