THE TOWN...are you serious

this movie was about 4 african american females who come from a poor neighborhood get together to rob banks but the Town, directed by Ben Afflek deals with 4 boston irish males who come from a poor neighborhood get together to rob banks and in both movies each of the 4 die in the exact way
1st dies from gunshot(s)
2nd dies when they drive a car into a police blockade
3rd dies when the 4th one watches
4th lives and contacts the person WHO THEY MET IN THE BANK

SO WHY THE HELL IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS??????

I have never seen The Town, so I can't say. But imdb thrives on folks screaming "rip off", so I'm surprised there aren't more post like this. I guess its a good thing.

On The Town board, not many compare it with Set It Off but w/ the movie the Heat. I've never seen Heat so can't compare.

reply

I think The Town is more comparable with Heat, but not much. Set It Off is more comparable with Thelma and Louise, I would say, but not the point where it's a rip off at all.

I never thought about it, but you're spot on with the comparison. Of course, bank heist movies usually have overlapping cliches of the genre, but these two are eerily close.

I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.

I guess the movies are far enough apart in years that the first one doesn't immediately spring to mind, and I personally LOVED "Set It Off". If I had to compare I would say it was way better than "The Town."

reply

Maybe because they didn't want to spoil the endings of both movies for everybody else just to make a point, stupid.

Put a spoiler alert if you're going to give away the ending, dummy.
