The kids who did it actually seemed more influenced by The Matrix.

I believe they showed up like in trench coats, sunglasses and guns... the Matrix had been out for roughly 3 weeks.

I still wouldn't 'blame' any movie... those guys were just a couple of idiots.

No Columbine were mass killers Billy and Stu were serial killers. They have tried blaming videogames and music on Columbine.

No, but it's interesting to look at the series and note how the pathology of the Scream villains resembles mass shooters, and domestic terrorists (like highway snipers and the unabomber) more than they do serial killers.

I would say it did not inspire, but definitely looks at how when crazy meets another crazy things can become very escalated, to the point of no reason or return .
