My memory of the film seems to have escaped me. I always assumed it was the Skeet Ulrich character.

Well I knew he was it on it with his friend. I just thought (memory escaped me) he was the mastermind.

That stupid way he picks up the phone when Sidney is at their house in the beginning after she punches out Gale. He walks to the phone after Ghostface talks to Sidney and goes "Hello?" in a weird sinister voice.

The film deliberately prompts you to suspect every major character (other than Syd and Tatum I guess), even the police chief is shown wearing the same boots as the killer.

No, it never crossed my mind. I suspected Billy from the start and kept suspecting it till he was “killed” lol then I was lost
