I already knew that Matthew Lillard's character was a killer before I watched the movie because my friend spoiled it for me. I had no idea there was 2 killers, and Billy also being a killer was a big surprise to me, especially after he appeared to be stabbed to death. So who did you think was the killer while you were watching the movie for the first time?

shareTo throw my two cents in, when I saw it in threatres back in 96, I thought it was the Sheriff because I was paying close attention to the shoes the whole time. I thought maybe the Sheriff was really Sids dad and one of Maureen's former lovers who got pregnant by him with Sidney so he wanted to frame Neil and claim Sidney as his daughter.
shareI suspected Dewey also. I thought it was too convenient that he was at the front door with the ghostface mask. The reason I didn't suspect Billy right away because I thought that was too obvious although some part of me was telling myself it could turn out to be him. I don't know if anyone remembers the original trailer in 1996, but you could hear the killer's voice on the phone and he sounded like an adult so I never suspected any of the teenagers. It was only until Billy gets stabbed by ghostface that I stopped doubting him, at that point I thought it was Sidney's father.
shareI already knew who the killers were because my brother told me - I guess he wanted to rub it in. I was only 10 when it was released, and didn't see it all the way through until I was like 12. Billy and Stu both seem pretty guilty and psychotic.
However, throughout the movie they kept trying to make, as they say everyone's a suspect, the Sheriff and especially Sydney's dad seem to be the killer(s), but I kept thinking why would they want to kill a bunch of high school students?

The movie kept giving me doubts about Billy even though I felt it was him but I thought it maybe was Randy but then I thought Dewey (secretly didn't want him to be). And then I thought it was Stu, as well, for his earlier reference on how to gut someone.

share11 yr. old me thought it was Dewey. Something seemed off about him. I was floored when it was Billy and Stu. And obviously for the fact that there were two killers as opposed to one. Watching the movie now, it seems so obvious that it's those two, but not the first time watching it.
