Matilda was white but her parents weren't
I'd call them Daego. I know Danny Devito wanted to star in this but he should have at least hired a white wife to make the parentage believable.

shareLol I know they looked British. Everyone adult I the movie was
sharewhat? Danny De Vito IS white. And so is Rhea Perlman. What the hell are you on about?
shareThey look Italian/Greek/Spanish... you know, Mediterranean... Mediterranean are dark because of the mixture of Arab blood from interbreeding during the Arab conquerings. So no, they're not "white", they're mixed Arab.
shareShut up,...they are white and white to the rest of the world..
You're being too difficult
"You've been targeted for Termination"- Kyle Reese
there is no such thing as arab blood. there is no such thing as black, white, yellow etc etc blood. were are all 99% identical the other 1% is individual. there is no genetic tests on earth that can distinguish between the so-called races.
and Arabs are caucasoid
Oh really? Then explain ancestry sites that can coordinate where your bloodline originates?
shareSaying "they don't look white, they look Mediterranean" is like saying "they don't look white, they look celtic", or "they don't look white, they look Slavic", or "they don't look white, they look Germanic", or "they don't look white, they look Scandinavian". It's all white. Different shades of white. Otherwise you're saying that darker skinned whites like Colin Farrel, Natalie Portman, and Monica Bellucci aren't white.
shareDaego? Really, Archie Bunker?
You do realize Italians are white and skin tones can vary within a family?
This is such a bizarre criticism of this movie. You know what else her parents lacked? Telekinetic powers--at least one of them should have them for her to inherit. This film's completely out of line!
Rabble rabble rabble!
as stated, theyre mixed arab
shareOnly people from the southern part of Italy have a bit of Arab heritage. But most Arabs are Caucasians and therefore also white.
shareCaucasian doesn't mean white. Brown people like Indians and Pakistanis are also Caucasian. Would you call them white?
shareCaucasian CAN refer to white people in general, though.
shareI do not call them brown. And I'm talking about race, not skin color. In that case they're interchangeable. Darker skinned Indians and Pakistanis are NOT (fully) Caucasian. Either way, Italians are definitely white.
share
so... yeah that isn't how genetics works.
This is a ridiculous thread. You're obviously a Trump-supporting bigot.
shareIs Perlman even Mediterranean? They're not so dark it looks unbelievable. Also skin tones vary a lot amongst people in general and certainly around people with Mediterranean background..I see this first hand. You are trolling
shareRhea is Jewish, so is Matilda. Ashkenazi.

Graham Hess: There is no one looking out for us. We are all alone.
From the movie it looked very much like the Wormwoods adopted Matilda rather than gave birth to her.
Would rather believe Ms. Honey's her biological mother.
What? it was pretty clear they were in the hospital to give birth, and that's why they got a bill
shareThey were charged for a hospital stay at the beginning of the movie. An adoption wouldn't happen at the hospital.
Why would the Wormwoods adopt a child at all? They had one already and are hardly interested in parenting.
it is weird how both parents created a blue eyed baby with pale skin but its not that deep. Maybe one of her grandparents had blue eyes. My mom is black and my dad is white. Obviously I look more black but I have green eyes because of my dads mom. It's just a movie lol.
shareSwitched at birth maybe?
It was never implied in the book nor in the movie, but everthing leads to believe that Matilda had nothing to do with her "parents" physically, mentally or intellectually.
I like to think that she's someone else's child.
Sounds right
shareYep, that sounds about right in every aspect. They got the wrong kid. She didn't get the southern Italian looks or the low I.Q of her Mom or Dad. She wasn't their's.
