Mean Girls (2004)
I wonder if Tina Fey used HTS as an inspiration for the Mean Girls script. The "burn book" in her movie is quite similar to HTS's notebook. It's the big event or shock in the second half of the movie.
shareBoth movies were based on books, so you'd have to go back to the source in order to form a better assessment. For what it's worth this is far from the first instance of this sort of storytelling device.
