Fargo (1996) vs A Simple Plan (1998)

A Simple Plan. Fargo had great actors. A Simple Plan had great actors and a better ending.

MY TAKE?...FARGO OR SIMPLE PLAN?...THATS A DRAW...TWO EQUALLY GREAT CRIME AND SNOW POTBOILERS POPULATED WITH MEMORABLE CHARACTERS AND AMAZING MOMENTS...

Fargo is definitely the better movie, but A Simple Plan is also very good and it's an underappreciated film that never gets talked about.

The comparison is apt, as it's amazing how Coen-esque A Simple Plan feels--it's reminiscent of both Fargo and Blood Simple--despite neither being written nor directed by them.

I like Fargo better, but A Simple Plan is still one of my favorites.

Pretty clear that they wanted to hitch a ride on the masterpiece Fargo here. But cast, script and direction are incomparable. Fargo featured a fateful series of events, almost inevitable, into which Macy/Buscemi/Stormare were sucked, so to speak. In ASP the entanglements came across as rather contrived, with a bunch of implausible characters and implausible decisions.

Especially annoying how constantly in "subtle" ways it had to be pointed out how simple this Jacob was... with that badly played stammering.

Very bad, I turned it off.

Both great but for me simple plan .

I just purchased A Simple Plan on Blu Ray and it's really good, but Bill Paxton and his Dudley Do Right schtick sort of got old. I mean this dumbass burned all of this $$$$$ at the end instead of listening to his wife who apparently is smarter than he was and both should've just left the Country with that kind of $$$$$$. It's a good movie but an annoying ending

A Simple Plan is a great movie, I really enjoyed it.

But give me a fucking break XD
