Retroactively changing credits
So back when Lana (Larry) and Lily (Andy) Wachowski were still men, they directed this movie.
Why change the credits to their current names? They were not women when they directed this film.

My guess is it's too much work for the IMDB editors.
They were always women. They just weren't identifying as such.
Their doctors assigned them the wrong sex at birth. I believe that's how it works.
edit: Are you talking about the IMDB credits? I thought you meant they'd change the credits in newer releases of the movie.
I think that's how it usually works on IMDB when someone has a name change. It'll show whatever the current name IMDB has in its database in the credits for the movie.
Notice, if you go to Lana Wachowski's page, there's a note that reads (as the Wachowski Brothers), so they aren't ignoring the old names.
Yeah I get that, but like when I watch "Juno" I don't like seeing Eliot Page in the credits when he was still Ellen Page when the movie was made. It would be like if Prince, when he was alive, insisted that his back catalog on albums change his name from Prince to Symbol (The Artist) even though most people who are fans know him as Prince.
shareI'm fine with IMDB doing it that way. It's not hard to find on their personal pages. It's easier for the people who run the technical side of the site, I'm sure.

Ditto. Page was exactly the example I was going give. Ellen Page starred in [insert name of movie], not 'Eliot Page'.
But some movies and Tv shows actually went back and changed the actors or actors (directors) names to reflect their newer identity not just IMBD. Like I'm cool with James Roday Rodriguez wanting change his name from James Roday but it is confusing to more causal fans of "Psych". So it should be reflected in the new credits not the old ones.
