Amanda Burton or Emilia Fox?

I much prefer Emilia Fox' Nicky in Silent witness. She plays a kinder/gentler pathologist than Amanda Burtons' Sam Ryan. I found the Sam Ryan character to be mostly unlikeable and she seemed to not get along with so many of the other characters, she played a character who was difficult to get along with. Another thing, I know it just may be the shape of her mouth, but she seemed to be smiling at the wrong times?
BTW is anyone else ticked that IMDB are closing down their boards? I love being able to go to these and ask a question etc, given an opinion.

Can't watch the ones with Amanda Burton,she is so unlikable in my opinion.

I just recently started watching this show from the very beginning, and I do agree that Amanda Burton does seem to always have a bit of a smirk, often at the wrong times lol
I think she left at the middle or end of season 7, or beginning of season 8 (can't remember for sure). I'm only halfway through season 9 right now, but I cannot stand Emilia Fox so far. Honestly, though, I feel like the show / all of the other characters took a nosedive after Burton/Ryan left. I find myself constantly yelling at each of the main characters multiples times throughout episodes now, whereas before, when Burton/Ryan was still the main person, I don't recall having issues with any of them.
