Why isn't this show available streaming?

3 seasons, 67 episodes, Lance Henriksen in the lead role, and it covers a kind of mishmash of mystery/thriller, science fiction and supernatural/horror genres, as well as being sort of the same type of universe as the X-files.

This seems like a no-brainer for streaming. Above average overall, way above average considering the dreck on streaming services.

So what's the deal? It was on TV far enough into the home video era such that it shouldn't have too many weird rights issues, especially considering it was a Fox show.

All I can think of is that it was a 4:3 SD TV show, but that shouldn't be a huge issue.

You can't even buy it for streaming as far as I can tell, only the DVDs.

too much truth in the writing,
so many of the conspiracy ideas have become well-known facts

I remember reading while back that it has to do with music rights. As in the music used in the show. They'll have to pay up if they wanna stream the show.

And it's a bit too costly for their liking, apparently.

reply

Yes that was Chris Carter's explanation. I posted that here earlier.

reply

For real? Genuinely didn't see it.

Also, Chris himself said it? Didn't know that. Thought it was Lance or someone else that who it.

Really sucks though. Love the tone & style of this show

reply

Pawn shops where I am always seems to have copies of it.

Just buy it.

reply

I used to own it on DVD. But I lost it, along with countless others, during my move, a bit over a year ago

reply

Just buy it - again : )

reply

I'll probably but the Blu-ray version, eventually.

But not right now.

reply

Is it even on Blu-ray? I own the three seasons on DVD, and I've heard that's out of print now and that second hand copies go for a lot of money online.

reply

I remember a friend on a Facebook group telling me he had Bluray versions of it way back.

Never looked into though. I just thought, neat.

reply

Be cool if it is out there on Blu-ray.

reply

The two seasons of Millennium I own are some of the few DvDs I still have around so you had me curious. I checked out ebay and it looks like copies of each season are selling for only about 20-30 dollars.

reply

Oh, okay. That's less than I'd been led to believe.

reply

It’s not just the music rights but also residual payments to the actors.
