Loved it

I have to preface this, by saying I watched the Ulysses Cut. I vaguely remember, possibly seeing parts of Waterworld back in the day, however this is the first time I've watched this in full. I'm glad I watched the longer cut.

I really loved this film. It was never boring, and I was intrigued all the way through. This film had a $175m budget, which was astronomical for the 1990's. I think it showed on screen. All the "sets" were really well constructed, and quite realistic for a water only world. All the engineering and machinery worked well. It was really fun to see how people and Mariner got by with living from the sea.

Dennis Hopper as the villain was great. Quite over the top at times, however still a good watch.
Kevin Costner did really well, as did Jeanne and Tina, the little girl.

This film is quite funny at times, something you would not expect. It is beautifully filmed, and it holds up really well.

SPOILERS

Interesting the Everest sign at the end. It's almost a nod to Planet of the Apes at the end of that film as well.

A definite recommend.

People and media always shit on it. But I always liked it. Even since childhood.

It's a well made movie. And they had to shoot it all on location, on real water, building real boats.
