One minor thing I didn't understand...

...When they are interviewing Spacey at the police station, the main interviewer walks back in and asks about Kaiser Soze and Spacey gets mad, yells a curse word and slams his fist, like he was hoping Soze never got brought up in the interview. Why? If he was already lying and proclaiming his innocence in the whole ordeal anyway, why would he care if Soze got brought up? I didn't understand his reaction there.

Thanks in advance!

I believe that it is mainly done to misdirect the Kujan (the audience).

reply

It was an act, but Verbal had not counted on Kujan coming in and continuing the interrogation. He had hoped to get away with the dope-deal-gone wrong story without Soze being brought up.

reply

The Keyser Söze drama was part of Verbal's masterful charade.

reply

Verbal's outburst is a calculated move. By reacting so emotionally, he reinforces his supposed ignorance and fear of Keyser Söze. If he is merely a low-level con artist as he claims, the very mention of Söze would understandably terrify him. The anger and frustration add to the credibility of his act, making him seem like someone desperate to distance himself from Söze and the events surrounding him.

Thank you!
