Why is this so high on the top 250

I thought it was a great movie deserving of an 8/10 rating, but I have no idea how it's so high up on the list. I don't think it's better than The Silence of the Lambs, Once Upon a Time in the West, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Sunset Blvd., Apocalypse Now, Django Unchained, The Lion King, Wall E, North by Northwest, Taxi Driver, Oldboy, To Kill A Mockingbird, Reservoir Dogs, Requiem for a Dream, Once Upon a Time in America, Return of the Jedi, The Wolf of Wall Street, For a Few Dollars More, Inglourious Basterds, Batman Begins, Yojimbo, Chinatown, Scarface, Up, The Big Lebowski, Fargo, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Kill Bill Vol 1/2, The Wizard of Oz, 8 1/2, Donnie Darko, A Fisful of Dollars, or The Truman Show which are all on the top 250.

But that's my opinion I guess. Anyone else think it's overrated on this site?

I like this movie and think it gets better the more I watch it, I wasn't a huge fan of it when it came out but now enjoy it so much more. What's wrong with it being up so high on the list? Wouldn't that just mean the silent majority of people really enjoyed it they just aren't here on the message boards complaining about something? I personally don't think it should be up that high but like it really matters.

Dude, you have to correct your title. You mean "Why is this so LOW on the top 250". One of the best movies ever.

It's because the site allows anyone and everyone to vote. This is an ok film, nothing more, but many of the kids (under age 30) voting have never seen any of the truly good films made when Hollywood was still capable of producing someone special.

The average rating by voters between 30 and 44 is 8.7, while the average rating by voters between 18 and 29 is 8.6, so you're talking nonsense.

It's probably so high because of the surprise twist, which is executed great. The movie's pretty good, but a tad overrated.

Django Unchained, The Lion King, Wall E, Return of the Jedi, The Wolf of Wall Street, Inglourious Basterds, Batman Begins, Scarface, Up, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Kill Bill Vol 1/2

Well it's certainly much better than those for me, personally. And I see no major difference between it and the two Coen Brothers movies you mentioned; no compelling reason to consider Raiders a superior movie, though it's also one of my favourites. Once Upon a Time in the West is a movie I simply found boring, though I might concede it's more of a landmark piece of work. Personally I find TUS more enjoyable than Silence of the Lambs, though that arguably had some better performances.

I actually get the sense that Suspects is more underrated these days. Especially if it's not unusual to hear stuff like The Dark Knight and WALL-E called superior.

Agreed. I liked the movie and have it a 7/10, but I'm completely baffled why it's considered the 25th best film of all time.

I agree that it's rated a bit high and certainly isn't better than most (if not ALL) of the movies you mentioned. I think it's so high on the list because of how iconic the ending is and how it made a star of Kevin Spacey and how, looking back, so many of those actors when on to be really famous.

The twist, and showing how Kyser came up with his details, is great. The rest of the movie is average. 25's way too high.

Agreed it's very overrated. I've watched it twice and it just tries to hard to be cool. The twist is silly and totally unpredictable. Too bad, love the actors. It has a similar feel to movies like Scarface and Untouchables. Cheeseball dialogue and overacting and insanely overrated. It's not era thing because Heat came out at the same time and it totally holds up. Oh well. It's just one of those movies to me that I don't agree with its popularity. Once Upon a Time in America is another one. Same group.
