I just watched 12 M. for the first time, all the way through. Is the reason that IMDB describes it as a black comedy because Pitt's performance is so clownish and exaggerated? Was he not directed!? I don't think he was at this undeserved exalted place in pop. culture at the time, so why didn't they fire him after the first few dailies? He's just awful and distracting in every scene.
I was never a Brad Pitt hater, but his performance in Seven was bad, too. I also saw him in an earlier obscure flick and he was terrible there as well. 12 M would have been a much better movie, and possibly a cult classic, without him in that key role. Brad must've been a pool boy for some influential producer back in the day. He surely can't act.

well, then you should watch him in Legends of the fall, Meet Joe Black, Seven years in Tibet, etc.
he is a good actor ... and he deserves to be big.

Hes a average actor. I like most of the films he has been apart of such as " Fight Club" one of the best movies ever made, "Seven", "Legends of the fall", "Assassination of Jesse James". The reason why i like these movies so much is solely based off script, directing, and some parts based off his acting ability but not much.

Yet he's in 6 movies in the top 250 on IMDB. 5 which he stars as a main character.

He stared in a few more that should be in the top 250 i.e.

Interview with the Vampire
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
The Tree of Life

Moneyball

World War Z could have been so much better, but at least it's in the top 5k.

He was fabulous in Troy, Killing Them Softly, The Counselor, & Burn After Reading.

I thought Mr & Mrs Smith was a lot of fun.

The very best moment in 12M, weither it's Pitts acting or just great editing by Gilliam I don't know, but everytime I see it I laugh my a$$ off;
It's Pitts reaction, or lack of reaction, when Bruce Willis eats the spider.

I came on here to say the exact same thing.

Brad Pitt is a weak actor, who has gotten better over the years, and can be good in the right role. But most of the good movies he's in are only saved because someone else is carrying him the whole time.

Compare Pitt's performance here to Bruce Willis'.

Or Pitt to Morgan Freeman's in Se7en.

Or Pitt to Ed Norton's in Fight Club.

Or Pitt to Tom Cruise in Interview with a Vampire.

Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to its awesomeness.
