Do you think that Toy Story is OVERRATED???

I don`t know what is good in this and the other 2 movies. It is not funny and it is really boring. What you think?

reply

Not at all, it was a trailblazer and it still remains a classic.

Toy Story, like Lion King, Aladdin, and a few other "classics" from the 90s, represented Disney's golden age and these were all original masterpieces. Tell me how you can even begin to describe any of these amazing animated films with the word "overrated".

Honestly, as a kid I wasn't ever too in love with Toy Story. My friend would say it was great but it just seemed ok to me. I couldn't put it next to The Lion King or anything. I just oculdn't appreciate it as a kid.

Now that I'm older, it is one of the more mature films I can appreciate and enjoy. It's not like childish at all. The characters of Woody and Buzz Lightyear are amazing. As a kid, I now remember loving Woody but hating Buzz Lightyear, because I could feel how Woody was being left behind by this newcomer. But Woody ends up getting so jealous and ends up making the other toys hate him for being selfish. He really needs to learn to accept Buzz like everyone else. Andy was important and Woody wasn't thinking right.

Hard to explain but I really like it now. I recently bought it and watched it, I will watch it again soon. "You've got a friend in me!" Really made that song standout and just loved it in this movie. Really beautiful masterpiece.

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen do a great job, as well as all the other voice actors.

All the toys need to work together, one was never more important than the other. I think this is a lesson I always missed. Even Syd's toys that were all abused still had good hearts.

Not funny? You need to go out and get a sense of humour. Really boring? Get a life.

I honestly feel this one had some flaws in it. The way that Potato Head, Hamm, and the other toys turned on Woody made me dislike them when I wasn't supposed to. They really behaved like Stinky Pete, a villain from the second film, did. In the sequels I felt they were much more likable and better developed. That is one of the reasons why I prefer the other two films over this one.

Toy Story - slightly overrated
Toy Story 2 - slightly underrated
Toy Story 3 - very very very very very overrated.

The first Toy Story is nostalgic and it's one of my all-time favorite movies. I still watch it whenever I like it to. The part 2 and 3 I can't even remember if I watched them fully already, I just do remember I didn't like them as much as the first one. I'm watching The Pixar Story (2007) right now that's why I'm here.

P.S. This is a well-rated movie!

The first one is watchable but it's not the masterpiece every thinks it is. I mean "Rock a Doodle" is better than this and besides the stole the idea from "Jim Henson's The Christmas Toy"

reply

Wasn't the whole idea stolen from that episode of "The Twilight Zone"? I think probably the only reason "Toy Story" garnered any praise was its breakthrough computer animation, which isn't that impressive 20 years later.

Skiop I just had the unfortunate stroke of bad luck in stumbling onto your Star Trek reviews. You are truly clueless. I want that 30 seconds of my life back.
