IMO, most underrated film out there

I *beep* love this movie, one of my all time favorites.

same for me

I usually don't like expressions such as underrated or overrated because all that matters is one's own opinion but this movie is a total classic and one of the best cast films ever, so I agree. more people should know about this.

I have to agree, very underrated. The cast is great (including the late, great Jack Warden), the writing has an energy to it, and it's clever. Of course we know what's going to happen next, they practically tell us exactly what's going to happen, but that doesn't matter.

I love the lingo, too. "It's not a job, it's an action." And "buckwheat!"

To be honest, I didn't like the film all that much the first time I saw it, and I didn't like the next to last scene, or the last shot. But then I watched it again a few days later feeling it deserved another look. Then I got it all. I felt it was so much better than my first impression. I think I was trying to figure out the movie instead of letting the movie tell me what it wanted to say. And I felt the rythm and style of the editing, especially how the last shot fit into it.

Anyway, without saying too much (too late), it's a good film and deserves a look, or two.

It blows my mind this is a 6.5

6.5 ???

How does that happen ? Great acting, great plot, great soundtrack. Really weird. 8/10 minimum.

reply

Ditto. Great movie. Loved it.

I fully agree. This movie has it all- drama, heart, comedy and Walken. Definitely one of my top 20 all time. Andy Garcia is amazing in this film.

I'd have to put it in my top 10. Walken's best movie. Andy Garcia's best by a mile. Clever. Moving. Surprising. Intelligent.

6.5? Wtf?

reply

Completely agree...

9/10 at least.. The ending gets me every time. Beautiful.

reply

I'd give it about a 4/10.

Considering the great talent involved this should have been so much better. A film to avoid, methinks.

reply

As the others have already stated you really need to watch it more than once to catch the drift of the film a real classic 9.5/10

reply

Should definitely have a higher rating, maybe late 7s.

Buscemi stole this movie for me.

reply

I literally fell asleep watching this piece of ****. Gave it another shot and it still sucked. 6,5? Overrated imo.

reply

I really liked this film. I also feel that it is under rated. It is often compared or described as "Tarantino-ish" but aside from clever dialogue, there is hardly any resemblance.

I gave it an 8 outta 10.
