1.Usual Suspects

3.American Beauty (Tragic)
4.Shawshank Redemption (Very warming)
5.American History X (Powerful)

Special mentions to Se7en and Con Air (I'm sorry but i just love the way you see steve buscemi in the casino right at the end)

reply

Lucky number slevin for sure too. True Romance as well.

reply

Maybe I am too dumb to understand it but at the end of TTDIDWYAD (you know the scene on the boat with Andy Garcia and the gang) did it all mean that it was all a made up story by the old dude. Or was that them in their own utopia

reply

It was for your (and mine) utopia. We loved these people. We identified to a point.

reply

lucky number slevin???

did you not see that coming? i pulled the rug out before the writers knew HOW to pull out the rug.

it was so obvious.

reply

if your going for shocker ending then add "The sixth sense"

reply

Unforgiven

reply

you hit the nail on the head with that kalamzaoo the whole build up is more than worth it

reply

The thing Carpenters version.

reply

someone tell me why he whacked the weird guy who wanted to go bowling with him earlier in the film?

reply

that was Christopher Walken's son, Christopher's punishment for his lack of mercy.

reply

In no particular order

1) The Usual Suspects
2) The Good the Bad and the Ugly
3) The Wicker man (1973)
4) American History X
5) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
6) The Thing
7) Taxi Driver
8) Chinatown
9) Monty Python and the Holy Grail (had to throw that in there)
10)The Departed

reply

Good list, but also -
Lost and Delirious (Piper Perabo brilliant!)
Gallipoli
Mad Max 2
The Others
Slapshot

Worst ending of a decent movie, in my opinion, Ocean's Twelve.

I'd like to see The Thing re-made with better speacial effects. Need to keep the suspense though.

reply

(Re: ntini77 - first post): Oh, good list. American Beauty is a film I haven't seen yet, but will...since you put it up there with other classics. I'd move Shawshank to #1, in my list though.

reply

"I'd like to see The Thing re-made with better speacial effects. Need to keep the suspense though."

ARE YOU *beep* KIDDING ME!? The Thing's effects were and are STILL top notch, but you aren't satisfied and you want MORE? The special effects can't get any better! You better not mean CGI. Give me a *beep* break.

My name? If you knew that, you'd be as clever as me.

reply

Hands down: the ending of "No Country for Old Men." I love endings where they don't dumb down and spell everything out.

"She's, like, a biscuit older than me..."

reply

To go more classic we could add Planet of the Apes and Psycho. The ending to Requiem for a Dream still freaks me out.

reply

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Wild Bunch
Rocky
Before Sunrise
The Mist

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is my favourite movie ending, the others I just really like.

reply

DEFINENTLY Twilight Zone: The Movie!

Dan Ackroyd is an absolute pimp.

Also
The Mist (Tragic)
Post Modern Prometheusus (not a movie but hilarious)
Sleepaway Camp (WTF)
Lucky number slevin (Nice)
Se7en
Red Dragon
Unbreakable

And also for most hated endings:
Acolytes
Hatchet
The Sixth Sense
Cold Mountain
