Anyone hate this?

I thought this movie STUNK!!! I always get a ton of heat for saying this and I'm sure people will post alot of negative responses to me, but I loathed this movie. I wanted so badly to like it because everyone I know who has seen it absolutely loves it!
Personally, I found all the characters unlikeable, the multiple plot lines were as lifeless as a boulder and that irritating guy who kept saying "Give it a name!" made me want to toss my TV in the furnace. Oh, and that dumb business where dying people record messages for their loved ones??? Couldn't you just do that with a camcorder at home a la MY LIFE? The only enjoyable part of this movie was when I hit the off switch on my VCR.
If I go 100 years without seeing this movie again, it's not long enough of a break!

Everyone who thinks this movie sucks is ON CRACK.

But to each his own.

Give it a name.

Denver ROCKS! A part Garcia was BORN to play! I honestly can't understand how someone could hate this film, I just don't get it.

I also enjoyed it and thought Garcia was great in it. Probably the best role I have ever seen him play.

Agreed! Though he is fantastic in When A Man Loves A Woman and Jennifer 8.

heh, no wonder Jimmy's business was failing ;)

Y'know, I wouldn't say I hated this movie. It was... okay, some interesting ideas but the thing as a whole didn't really come together. It's not memorable, in fact the only reason I rented it was to see Buscemi's character who was by far the most likeable of the film.

This is not a film I'll be adding to my dvd collection but I wouldn't say I wasted my time watching it either.

Interesting. Art really is subjective. Denver is my favourite film by far! It's funny, charming, ultra violent, moody, menacing and romantic!

I thought this movie sucked too. Lots of sentimental cheese and unrealistic characters. I had big expectations for this film but was utterly disapointed...

I am with you Midnight-Boy. I don't get the vitriol. I also don't get the "sentimental cheese." You mean a guy meeting the girl of his dreams only to suddenly have a death sentence handed down is considered sentimental cheese? Has your heart never been broken? Have dreams never slipped through your fingers? Has the pain and agony of life never touched your soul? Love is sentiment. Cheese? You mean a guy called Jimmy The Saint who is described as "the bitches bastard" can't speak with romantic charm to a woman and be successful? Boo. In my universe it makes sense. Unrealistic characters? Like...? The Buscemi character was mystical in his abilities, totally following the myth/fable/legend established from the beginning (and much like the amazing Mr. Wolf from Pulp who arrives several seconds earlier than he proclaims which is still what, 20 minutes faster than possible? Mythical!) My only real complaint was that Gabrielle Anwar (who as a child, I loved in Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken) just wasn't a strong enough actress at this point in her career. In fact, she was stronger as a child. She looked the part but was outmatched in the dialogue scenes with Garcia, thereby reducing the effectiveness of her character, and Garcia having fallen in love with her. It wasn't totally lop-sided, just not as effective as I think it was meant to be. Garcia was the salesman ultimately, and I believed him, so it wasn't that large of an issue for me...

the only thing i could do was be me and keep on keeping on, like a bird that flew...

Nope!
