SPOILERS ALERT, about the ending.
Hi, just wondering, since I managed to strangely think a lot about this movie in the last few years, and I happen to be one of the few people to not only have seen it but have access to it by owning it on video, but I was just briefly wondering, to those of you who have seen it, and possibly understood it, I have a couple of questions about the ending.
SPOILERS ALERT, but maybe you wouldn't mind too much, but anyways:
When it is at the end discovered that
it IS indeed Jack Davis, our main character, who killed those police officers
, after, another spoiler alert, however, his harrowing confrontation with Lydia (in a particularly on more than one level emotionally harrowing and even reasonably disturbing scene), well, the question I have is...
Was the woman ALSO responsible in some or other way(s) for the murders of those police officers, or was her attack on and later attempt to kill him a totally SEPARATE INCIDENT and a strange coincidence that isn't related to all those cop killings?
As much as I have watched the movie several times (and more on that other part later, but DO see it for yourself and I challenge you not to cry), I never quite got that part.
And also, when Ally Walker shoots her, does she die at the end or does she just get seriously injured and then taken to hospital? And if its the latter, what's going to happen to her later?
Maybe I didn't quite understand it, or maybe it was all kind of left up to the audience to decide.
And yes, I also got the impression that overall and with those two twists at the end, the movie really WAS trying to make some kind of statement about the negative aspects of 1990s American police force overall.
