Who do u think for Oscar; best portrayal of Satan?

(Thread idea stolen from the End of Days board)

John Glover, Brimstone. (Totally. Was my first thought when i saw the title thread over at the End of Days board. That was a GREAT show. Buffy caught on and got big just after this show was cancelled, I think if it had come out later, it would've lasted longer on Buffy's coat-tails. Maybe a re-boot and an airtime after Supernatural?)

Tim Curry, Legend. (loved this movie as a pre teen. Classic devil. Horns an hooves, Tim Curry voice, liked killing unicorns, evil. 'Nuff said.)

Peter Stormare, Constantine ("I have stocks." Awesome line, creepy, petty AND had the bonus fly/float thing. And his nickname was 'Lou'.If you had Constantine's balls, that is.)

But my number one is still... (evil drumroll pls):

Viggo Mortensen, Prophecy. (if you haven't seen it, go find it. Viggo was an unknown at the time, but my friends and I all sat up and went "Who's THAT!? CREEEPY HOT in a disturbing, frightening way. Fun movie if you can ignore some mildly dated effects and like that kind of film.)

Great list.
Watching `The Prophecy`(again) now which is what brought me to this particular forum. I`m actually surprised how many names are IN this movie. And Viggo Mortensen always stood out for me as well right from the first time I saw this in the theaters when it first came out.

(But the car that kills the angel Uziel at the beginning is kinda dumb, because it`s diving full speed down a blind alley. Why would anybody be driving that fast with nowhere to go?) Other than that I love this movie.

I also loved Peter Stormaire as Lucifer in `Constantine`.

I was never a fan of Pacino's Satan. Seemed like a performance we've all seen many times before. Almost 'phoned in'.

I don't know why but that made me laugh so hard because it's so true. I didn't even think about that, and I'll have to watch it again, but wasn't it a dead end alley too. OMG you just made my night and I can't help but keep laughing about that.

My favourite portrayal of Satan ever was Al Pacino in the Devil'd Advocate. As far as I'm concerned Al Pacino IS Lucifer. Viggo Mortensen in the Prophecy would be my second choice.

For me, it's gotta be a tie between Rosalidna Celentano in The Passion of the Christ and Al Pacino in The Devil's Advocate. I can't really pick one over the other because their two totally different ways to depict the ultimate evil.

Easily, for me, it's gotta be Al Pacino from The Devil's Advocate BY A LANDSLIDE. Even if for NOTHING MORE than his diatribe speech about God at the end of the film. One of THE greatest pieces of dialogue EVER delivered on film as far as I'm concerned! I'm actually able to recite it verbatim(or pretty damned-close), but I tend to cut out Kevin's name.

"Guilt, is like a bag of fu**in' bricks. All you gotta do, is put it down. Who are you carrying all those bricks for anyway? God? Is that it? God? Well, I tell you, let me give you a little inside information about God. God likes to watch. He's a prankster. Think about it, he gives man instincts. He gives you this incredible gift, and then what does he do? I swear, for his own amusement, his own private, cosmic gag reel, he sets the rules in opposition. It's the goof of all time. Look, but don't touch... Touch, but don't taste... Taste, don't swallow. Haha! And while you're jumping from one foot to the next, what is he doing? He's laughing his sick, fu**in' ass off! He's a tightass! He's a sadist! He's an absentee landlord! Worship that? NEVER!

I'm here on the ground-level with my nose in it since the whole thing began. I've nurtured every sensation man has been inspired to have. I cared about what he wanted, and I never judged him. Why? Because I never rejected him, in spite of all his imperfections. I'm a fan of man! I'm a humanist, maybe the last humanist. Who in their right mind could possibly deny the 20th century was entirely mine. All of it! All of it. Mine. I'm peaking. It's my time now!"

The only speech that comes close to this is Jason Lee's deleted speech about the origins of hell from Kevin Smith's film DOGMA

Rosalinda Celentano in 'The Passion Of The Christ'.

Honourable mention; Richard Kiley - 'Angel On My Shoulder' (1980).

"Leave the light on, Thomas."

How about Victor Buono in the movie "The Evil"? He was a very vile, wicked devil.
