Why a 6.5?

I totally disagree with what Doug Walker has to say. I agree it is historically inaccurate but it is a great film with good characters in it. This film deserves a higher rating like a 7.4 instead of a 6.5. I mean what's all the fuss?

Not sure what the need was to bring up Doug Walker. I enjoy his work, but he's by no means the be all and end all of movie opinions.

As for Pocahontas, the rating is somewhat lower than it should be. I would like to see it above a 7. The animated and music alone should boost it up quite a bit. I do still think the movie is flawed, but not as much as many others have said.

If everything is not all rainbows and kittens for you today, hopefully it will be tomorrow!

Its deserves 8 - 8.5 if you ask me
This is probably the one and only disney movie which is mature, serious, realistic, and more like grown-ups targeted. Its more like Miyazaki's.
I think the reason why this is underrated is because people who rate this compare this to other disney movies and with disney movies parameter too which are totally different with Pocahontas. People expect this to be more children targeted, and i dont blame them if their children (or them, if they have children taste) to found this boring.
Me on the other hand, rank Pocahontas as my all time favorite disney princess

It honestly makes me angry that so many people think this movie is bad because of what actually makes it so great - The seriousness of the music and the plot. I mean, I get that it's an animated Disney movie, but I just wish more people could open their minds to this type of movie. The fact that so many people either find it boring or too dark, or just get too riled up over the historical inaccuracies, is kind of depressing to me, honestly.
