The only actor I think doesn't fit the character well enough is "Rita Wilson". For me, she's the only one who seems different as an adult. I don't "Feel" her as Chrissy! I don't think she looks the part, sounds the part or acts the part at all. She doesn't seem to fit! Everyone else was really great if not perfect, ESPECIALLY the four young girls!
Who would you replace and why?
I would want Rosie O'Donnell replaced.
shareI think Winona Ryder could have played the older Roberta. She resembles Christina Ricci. They even played sisters in Mermaids. However, Winona wasn't old enough to play the role when Now And Then was filmed. Maybe they could have made her look older though.
shareI think personality-wise, Rosie O'Donnell was spot on as Roberta. I initially agreed with some saying that because of young Roberta's athleticism, she wouldn't have grown up to gain so much weight. Well, it happens, and it seems silly to think that simply because O'Donnell wasn't as slim as the other leads she was miscast. But, I feel like Madeleine Stowe could also have done a good job, or even an older Phoebe Cates? (even though she retired in 1994 to raise her kids...)

Rosie O'Donnell was dreadful as Roberta. The personality was quite fitting, but looks wise it was ridiculous. I also couldnt stand Melanie Griffith as Teeny, mainly because I think she is a dreadful actress, but she had none of Teeneys charisa. Demi Moore as Sam was spot on though

Man, the adults were all a total waste in this movie. They were in it for barely any time and added next to nothing.
shareI wouldn't replace anyone in this movie. When this movie was made, it wasn't a big movie. Most of the actress (Demi, Melanie, Rita & Rosie) were big names at the time this movie was made to bring attention to the movie. Besides the movie been made. No sense of crying over spelt milk.
