I'm a guy and I like this movie
Any other guys out there who enjoy this film? It reminds me a lot of my childhood, when I used to play outside in my neighborhood with three other girls who were sisters and a bit tomboyish.

shareAs a young boy I fell for Ms Thora Birch.
Thats why I decided to see this movie.
I still holding on to it, even now, as a 29 year old.
Its a very beautiful movie with lots and lots of gooood music.
Hatred is a very underestimated emotion.

I'm a guy and I like this movie. It doesn't remind me of my childhood, but it makes me wish I had a childhood like this.
I didn't like the 'Now' part so much though.
Yeah, they should have made the Now more interesting... but isn't that kind of the point? Life isn't as fun as it was as a kid, once you become an adult.
I love Jesus AND Jesus-hating atheists and am 100% proud!
Lol at your signature. How do you feel about atheists who don't hate Jesus or anyone else for that matter
shareI guess if you hung around with a lot of girls at that age it would be easier to relate to but for me it wasn't. The reading girly magazines and discussing absent fathers and spying on skinny dipping boys certainly didn't evoke any longing memories. I think boys tend to be a lot less emotionally close at that age and are more content to discuss cars and sports (and girls sometimes), at least my friends and I were whenever we were in groups, we tended to be closer and more open with each other in twosomes. I could relate to some of it, such as the cemetery seances (I snuck out once with some friends and spent the night in a cemetery when I was a kid, it was awesome) and the bike rides, but for the most part I felt like an outsider looking in. The girls were also raised in a seemingly middle class suburban town of sorts (I can't remember the exact setting, if it was ever mentioned) whereas I grew up in a rough lower class area so Stand By Me was more up my alley. I respected some of the messages the film put across, if only they hadn't been spoon-fed to the audience. It was also very tame to me, while these chicks were struggling with such issues as boobs that are too big, I was wondering whether I'd be assaulted with a nail-bat on the next corner, so...

I'm a guy and I also loved this movie.
shareI, for some reason enjoyed the film, even though I'm a guy. I guess it's because it reminds of my childhood or at least what I wished my childhood was like.

I support the 90s too much to let an all-female cast bother me. This movie just has the right name to sum up young actors in general, from "now" and "then". I don't care about sex opposites.
shareI used to see this film on TV pretty often as a kid, and I still like it. Thora Birch and Christina Ricci grew up nicely.

I loved this movie, they used to always play it over and over again on Starz or encore, I really liked Thora Birch and Christina Ricci in this, they were damn cute!
shareyeah, I liked it when I saw it on pay per view back then.
