I kind of got that vibe since he never settled down with a woman and the whole "tell me some stories about the women you met on the road" schtick seemed a bit like over compensation. PLUS, the whole minoring in modern dance bit.

There is no indication in the movie that he is gay. Dance has nothing to do with homosexuality. Besides, he explained that the football players took modern dance to become more graceful in their football movements.
