Am I the only one who like this movie....
Don't know why but I love this movie - I love the location, I love joely Richardson, I just really liked this film... and I can't explain why.

shareI like it also, but only because of the subject matter. Loch Ness is a fun conspiracy theory to explore, so anymovie about it is ok with me.
shareI thought it charming also. But I have an even deeper reason for liking it. Ian Holm bears an uncanny resemblance to my father. And his reaction when discovering the items in the satchel at the end of the film is absolutely ELECTRIFYING for me. His posture, body language, etc is hair raising - for 8 to 10 seconds I witness my father on the screen & cry like a baby every time I watch it. Dad passed away in 1980, but anytime I want to see him again, I put this film on & fast forward to the scene on the bus. For a few brief seconds there he is, enjoying himself to the fullest. If I ever meet Mr Holm, I intend to thank him profusely.
share[spoiler] I agree whole heartedly regarding Ian Holm and the scene on the bus. To have his dream-that-was-dashed-forever surprisingly realized is magnificent. Considering also that his character was the guardian of history and culture in the Loch made the scene intensely meaningful and satisfying. And yes, I enjoyed the movie, the characters, the humor, the transformation in attitudes, and how (perhaps unrealistically) of how the doctor extricated himself from an impossible situation.
shareI love this movie too! You might also want to check out another charming Scottish movie "The Match" - also starring Ian Holm.
Did you know that Macbeth was a maggoty apple? Not many people know that!
I just watched this on TV, and I enjoyed it. It was a big cheesy, but overall I thought it was quite sweet.
Some of the acting was very good, I enjoyed Ian Holmes performance as well. I thought it's something that I'll watch it again someday, maybe when I have kids.
This film is brilliant!! It'd be nice to see it's board a bit livelier XD

No no no!! Stop slashing things!!
Joely in a bra did it for me.
shareEnjoyed it a lot. It's well made and has a good heart.
shareYep, liked it as well. Not an Oscar-winner, but I saw it when I was young, and the film has a great atmosphere. The nature over there looks brilliant, by the way.
shareI fully agree with you. The atmosphere, the nature and the very likable characters make it a lovely film.
Aspire to climb as high as you can dream
People saw this in theaters? Info says it was planned for theater release but turned into "made for TV" only, $12 million budget. Did it actually make it to theaters?
It really was a great film, all the Scottish atmosphere, great actors and everyting else made it fantastic!
