This Movie Affected Other Dredd Movies Ever happening?

The Stallone movie seems to have left a bad taste in people's mouths to the point where there's no interest from Hollywood in doing a Dredd movie.

2012 Dredd happened because it was a UK indie film, despite it's cult classic status the film was a box office bomb and to this day there's still no interest in a sequel happening, many fans didn't know it was coming out, many still remember the Stallone movie which must've contributed at a little bit to 2012 flopping.

The Stallone movie tainted Dredd in other media in general audiences' minds, it's still gonna be a long time if we ever see more Dredd movies or TV shows.

I didn't even know Judge Dredd existed until this movie came out, it was a huge gamble sitting on top of Stallone's shoulders.

Remember comic book movies were in their infancy back then.

This IP/character has never been as popular as Superman, Batman, Spider-Man... etc and a Hollywood studio decided to spend close to 100 million (175M in today's 2023 money) in the mid 90s to make a movie out of it... insane!

I don't think many people remember Stallone's movie... moviegoers have short term memory... look at how many reboots of the same characters we get... Spider-Man has had 3 actors in a 14 year timeframe... Batman & Robin delayed the following installment/reboot 8 years... etc

It has been 28 years since Judge Dredd... if it still has any negative impact it must be almost insignificant.

But maybe I'm wrong... just my 0.02.
