I can't picture Bale doing Hanna. Might be a bit old, but I would think Oldman would be the better choice on that list, maybe partly because he'd be pretty much wasted as Nate.

Nolan's got the vibe for Heat, but I'd be worried that he'd re-write the third act and put in some strange twists, or he'd pad it out and make it six hours long.

reply

I came here to say Heat's perfect and imagining a recast is all but impossible.

But your choice of director is kind of a good fit, and moreso Nic Cage as Hanna. I'm not sure if it would be "good", but it would be entertaining as heck.

I'd put Chris Evans as Chris, though.

Jason Momoa as Waingro (bigger role than in Heat 95)
Interesting. Why would you give Waingro a bigger role this time? What do you think should be changed?

Mind you, I'm not criticizing. Just curious.

reply

bigger as couldnt think of a more Waingro actor than Momoa and if you have him probably need to expand the role abit.. have him kill a few more ppl created more of a threat for McCauley (also itd be just cool to see more Waingro action!)

Valid observation!

One of the many things that makes Heat such an excellent movie is that pretty much all of the characters are developed and portrayed such that you want to see more of them and learn more about them, even the reprehensible Waingro. The only possible problem for expanding Waingro's role is that the film is nearly 3 hours as it is.

Although maybe what you are getting at is to have Waingro kill people who matter to Neil or his crew somehow instead of randomly picking off hookers?

One of the few flaws with Heat is that I always felt--and I know I'm not the only one--that the Waingro-as-a-serial-rapist/killer subplot seems rather unnecessary. But if instead he was causing problems for Neil's crew, in addition to sabotaging the bank heist, it might have given Neil a stronger motive to come after him at the end.

Why would anyone want to waste tome recasting this masterpiece with a bunch of nobodies.

reply

This was THE showdown. Two of the biggest & most respected actors around going at it.

In a possible reboot/remake, The only 2 I can think of in the lead as McCauley & Hanna are DiCaprio & Denzel Washington respectively. Two similar heavyweights going at it
