Halloween 6 vs. H20 - which is better?

So which one do you prefer, H6 or H20? H6 has Paul Rudd's first role, Donald Pleasance's last appearance as Dr. Loomis, and (in the producer's cut) the most logical and epic explanation for why Michael is evil, with his connection to the Thorn cult and the Druids. H20 has Jamie Lee Curtis's return, Steve Miner's directing, and a storyline linking the movie to the first two. Also it has some nice tributes to classic horror (ie Janet Leigh's obvious cameo reference to Psycho) and was written by Scream scribe Kevin Williamson. I think that H20 is a better made movie and when I was younger I said H20 was the better overall of the two. But watching them together now I tend to prefer on a pure entertainment level Halloween 6, particularly the Producer's Cut. It has a more gothic quality than H20, and watching a "before he was famous" Paul Rudd and a "near his deathbed" Donald Pleasence lends a strange nostalgic air to it all. H20 feels like they tried a bit too hard to live up to Scream's recent success and feels a bit too self-aware of Jamie's celebrated return to the franchise, which hampers the natural narrative flow of the story. And the Dawson's Creek/WB approved teens are annoying. Plus H20 unfortunately has no Donald Pleasence and his absense is sorely noticed (although the intro commendably pays tribute to him). Halloween 6 has no pretensions than just being a well-oiled slasher potboiler and is more enjoyable and creepy as a result I think. H20 has the better production values and prestige but I think Halloween 6 is just more creepy fun to me.

Halloween H20. While it's far more Hollywood stylized and the film has its issues in particular all the false setups with Michael appearing, but it was only Laurie seeing things. Than Michael shows up,,but again not real. When he finally does appear it sort of lost its power.

However I still prefer it over Halloween 6. The producers cut is a little a closer for me, but still H20.

Halloween 6.

I know the film doesnt make sense but what saves it for me is the dark, creepy visual/atmosphere, Michael Myers and the movie is scary.

The far late 90s horror films lost its touch and H20 falls in line.

Halloween 6 by far H20 is boring as sh!t!

H20 better writing and direction, the story of curse was crap

I used to love H20 but over the years my appreciation for it has gradually lessened the more I re-watch. The Scream-wannabe vibe just ruins everything and takes away that feeling of being a true Halloween film. Plus.....LL Cool J. He certainly didn't help either lol. H20 is still competently made overall and I did love exploring Laurie's evolution as a character, but.......yeah, it could've been a whole lot more than what it actually turned out to be.

Halloween 6 Producers Cut (which is the only version I've seen and ever intend to see) returns to the original's vibe - what with the darker atmosphere, brutal Michael and literal replaying of the original's soundtrack - while at the same time offering the Thorn subplot which for me was exciting because of how unique/different of a concept it was.

Curse. It still retained a genuine Halloween vibe and atmosphere, and despite the confusing storyline, it still manages to be a semi-decent sequel.

H20 felt too much like Scream, and the final product felt too rushed.

6 wasn’t a good movie, but H20 was a disaster.

Michael was much more menacing in 6. H20 stylized him and the rest of the film and ruined much of the horror necessary for the film's atmosphere.

Requiescat in pace, Krystle Papile. I'll always miss you. Justice was finally served.

6 is infinitely better. Despite the ultimately anticlimactic return of Jamie Lee Curtis to the cast, H20 and Resurrection are absolute disasters.
