In general, speaking, the police, courts, judge, sentencing etc etc etc, is it meant to be and ultimately IS it nice, efficient, useful etc etc etc and worth respecting, American or otherwise, even with its flaws and controversies, some more worthwhile than others?
But in general - is law nice, thanks.
Because even if it is effective, it can be subject to scrutiny and anyways, I have a highly unfortunate and unpleasant feeling that it isn't 100% based on empathy and justice, even if it very much pretends to be.
Also, even when it fails and presents a problem in certain aspects, not many people either call for it to be dismantled (although I don't want it either) or changed like that - and boom - now everyone is happy. Or?
