As a kid in 94 I hated this

This was nothing like the previous NOES films and I couldn't really see the genius in what Wes was going for with this. Watching this now at the age of 40, it's so easy to see the vision and it's so simple. All Wes ever did was create a horror franchise that blurred the lines of reality with his killer who could only kill in dreams. He gave us a franchise that spawned 6 great films and then the franchise ended...and really, ending it was for the best because just look at what the fuck happened to other horror franchises that stayed around way longer than they should have..like Jason goes to hell..and Jason X. Absolute shit films. New nightmare is actually a very good original idea where he didn't try to blur the lines of just the dream world like he did in his previous films, but also truly blur the lines of reality itself by getting involved the actors and who played the characters. The scene where Heather goes home to go after her son and John Saxton is there and so easily slips in and out of character and starts calling Heather by her character's name, Nancy... OMG I got chills...so simple..yet brilliant...and then Heather is transformed into Nancy and the NOES music begins to play...Truly only something I could appreciate decades later.
