Why does Arnold Schwarzenegger look like an alien on the poster

I don't think it looks that different than his face on the posters of other movies he was in.

They put too much makeup on his face or used photoshop to soften his features.

Why is the sun purple?

I'm the biggest fan of Arnold's movies but after doing some thinking, the poster is kind of a bit meh as are some of his other movie posters. The posters of The Running Man, Total Recall, Last Action Hero, and this movie True Lies all have one thing in common. They all just have a close up of Arnold's face on the cover with barely anything that actually has to do with the movie being on the cover. For instance Last Action Hero's poster that they used on both the VHS and later the DVD is a close up of Arnold holding a gun while a big explosion happens in the background. It barely tells anything about what the movie is about.

Total Recall's poster is just a close up of Arnold's face while down below is a pyramid. The Running Man's poster that they used for the VHS and DVD is just a close up of Arnold's face in grey with a black background. That tells you nothing about the movie. Then there's True Lies' poster which is just a close up of Arnold holding a gun while having the symbol of his spy agency in the background. It barely shows what the movie is about. I like these movies but whoever designed those posters was a bit lazy if you ask me.
