What was people's reaction to the more unique parts of the movie - such as the motorcycle reaching the next skyscraper, and then of course, when the movie went to slo-mo as Arnie charged the horse?
I can just imagine a sellout crowd grinning ear to ear, "No...! No way...!"
Or the sleazeball cowardly turn by Simon when they raid the trailer? Or Aziz's death by the missile at the end?
How do you like that piece of satire?
I saw it opening weekend in a packed house. It's pretty clear right from the open scenes it was supposed to be way over the top and funny. The audience was laughing all the way through and had a great time. The biggest laugh I remember was the "but they were all bad" line.
shareSimon's whimpering about his small manhood got a good laugh. What I always remember is that my (since-deceased) father, who abhorred violent films and mindless action movies, loved it. It was rare for him to take me to see a movie I wanted to see and end up liking it.

shareI honestly can't remember if I saw this in theatres. I would have been about 12 so I kind of doubt it.
Those are some of my favorite moments in True Lies. It is so obvious that they are cheesy, unrealistic, and WAY over the top. But when the film-maker makes that obvious, it works really well. Other movies take similar situations way too seriously and it comes off bad. Cameron and crew shot those scenes in a way that they almost came across as a farce of bad movie scenes. It worked, and was hilarious.

I saw it with a big crowd and remember people laughing at the right times. I don't remember what the crowd thought of 'You're Fired!', but I thought it was great. My friends quoted to me afterwards.
shareIf I remember rightly, everyone in my theater was laughing at all the same jokes. When Simon was bragging to Arnold, they were laughing. When Arnold bust Simon's face, they laughed. They were shaking their heads in disbelief as Harry was trying to jump off the building to catch Aziz with a horse. They were also howling at Simon's petulant whining, when Harry was threatening to shoot him.
shareI seen this in Hollywood and the theater was packed to capacity. Lots of cheering and laughing and hooting. Up there as one of the most fun experiences I've had watching a movie.

That's like saying go see the latest sci-fi film if you want to know how audiences reacted to Alien when it first came out.
You are aware that different films have varying degrees of quality and audience reaction? Or have all your brains leaked out by now.
I remember queuing for over an hour to see this, it was sold out and it was a great experience.
Thanks to multiplex cinemas and multiple screenings per day, you don't get this this anymore.
Shame really
Saw this in Milford CT on a huge screen. The place was sold out and once Arnie slapped the dogs together in the opening action sequence and the crowd erupted with laughter and applause I knew it was going to be insane. And it was. Non-stop laughter applause and cheers throughout. One if the best times I can recall having at a movie. Today's film experiences pale in comparison.
shareI remember watching it in Albany, Ny when I was 10. We had a big laught in the theater when Arnold was about to jump with the horse. Thats all I can remember since it was 20 years ago.
