15 mins in and turned it off..

I love Cage but this movie was so bad after only 15 minutes that I had to shut it off. Carvey annoyed me sooo bad and so did Jon. I tried but I just couldnt take it.

To each his own...

actually this movie was awesome

you apparently have no taste

reply

Apparently you do not understand the fact that everyone has there own opinion on what they enjoy. So you now sound very rude for not understanding that.

Irelandangel04 reminds me of Clovis from the movie.

reply

Since I didnt see all the movie I dont know how to take that.

Can't please everyone...

reply

you base your opinion of the movie on the first 15 minutes, therefore your opinion is invalid.

reply

So you have never watched a movie and after 15 mins known you will not like it? Now that is unreal.

Can't please everyone...

reply

yeah but some movies start off slow and pick up momentum. Some never recover from a horrible start. But to get so up and bothered by it to post the fact is something else. Why post this? "Hey everyone! I didn't watch this movie, and I didn't like it." Why would anyone listen to you. Thats like me saying I hate Burger King's food, but I have never eaten at one. I tried a fry once though. Your opinion isn't invalid so to speak but it doesn't matter that much. Don't take it personally. I hate Titanic, and I have seen about 10 mins of it, we have something in common.

Why is that unreal? I've never done that. Ever.
You ARE Clovis!!!!!

Don't listen to him gang - this was a great movie.

I've got the feeling I won't like a film after 15 minutes but really the 15 minute mark is usally the lowest point of most films, so I give them a chance.
You can't judge a film based on the first act alone

Even if you hate Uwe Boll, give Postal a try, be offended or entertained.

reply

I was unfortunate enough to see the whole movie..wow, what a piece of crapola!

reply

I love this movie!!! I watch it every year with my husband and I laugh my rear off!! I am not a big NC fan but he is good in this one.

reply

I was thinking the same thing after 15 minutes, but then Dana Carvey seems to become less annoying and the film suddenly becomes very heartwarming and enjoyable before losing a few laughs towards the end. I'd say put it on again, seriously ;)

I saw this movie in a film class I took in Manhattan at the time the movie came out and they interviewed Jon Lovitz as part of the class. Do you know what he called this movie? Trapped In S**T! Says something doesn't it?

reply

I don't believe you.

reply

Im sorry but why even try and judge a film after only watching 15mins, why comment, the film is a bit silly at times but its good and fun, you obviously watched this film expecting a film like the rock or 8mm.

reply

yes men,indeed.this film sucked

The biggest problem with this movie was that every plot angle the screenwriter tried to go with failed miserably. It was disjointed (the plot), and, it's sort of hard to adequately explain, nothing ever seemed particularly right about anything that was going on. The entire thing reminded me of that last scene from "Scrooged" where Murray is supposed to be having a heart-warming moment but, in my mind, it comes across as more of a mental breakdown than anything else.

I love Nic Cage and can usually tolerate Carvey and Lovitz, and about the same goes for them in this film (although there were a few moments early on where Carvey's voice came close to irritating the piss out of me). But there was just something wrong with the proceedings that I could never quite put my finger on. And the nearly two hour running time was beyond overkill. It's almost like Fox thought this flick would be a bigger deal than it ended up being. Can't imagine why, though.

These strange things happen all the time...

I was going to do the same thing, because the first 15 minutes bored me so much. But i don't turn off movies unless they bore me to death, so i kept watching. Two things i want to mention:

1) While the movie was boring and bad, the last 15 minutes was actually pretty good. That's the reason i give it 5/10.

2) This idea sank deeper into my mind: Sometimes an actor/actress can show his/her acting abilities better in rather worse movies. This is not one of Nicolas Cage's top movies, but i can count his role as one of his best.

Irelandlamedunderhead04 - you are not alone but you are a moron for taking the time to post on these boards after 15 min.

No more posts for you *tisk tisk*
you should be ashamed.

By the way, it's a Great film!

Walking on Velvet Green!

reply

He's not a moron -- this movie is terrible, and it was quite evident by the 15 minute mark. Ebert said the movie was in trouble by the second scene, pretty much sums up the experience which goes only downhill...

reply

Well I'm 30 minutes in and I'm enjoying it............

If it's a boy, do you think it will look like Rodney? It doesn't matter as long as it's healthy!

reply

Well you missed the best parts if you only saw the first 15.
