I used to love and ADORE this movie!!!!! I used to watch it all the time! Who were your favorite characters? Mine were the Jacquimo the bird, the frog that liked Thumbelina, the bad bug that liked her, and of course Thumbelina. What about you? Aww now I really wanna watch it. I had the movie, but last year my little cousin borrowed it and it hasn't been returned since...

Good morning starshine, the earth says hello!
I was a sucker for the prince. This was my first actual theater movie when I was younger. I had seen things like snow white that had previously been out, but this movie was my first newly released flim. :) I remember getting the movie for my birthday and it came with a charm bracelet of all the characters that was SOOO adorable.

I always was and still am in love with Cornelius. I love that he's a fairy, and he's just so sweet, and brave. I love the guy.
Jacquimo was a fave of mine as a kid, but not really now. I've always liked the bad guy that liked her, because he's so funny, and his songs are really odd and funny.
Thumbelina is sweet too. I love her defiance of all the bad guys; she is a very stubborn, strong girl.
I think my favorite would be the cricket. I can't remember if it was a cricket. That bug that 'kidnapped' Thumbelina and made her sing and called her ugly when everyone realized she wasn't a bug. That one. LOL- i loved that song too.

Have you noticed that in most Disney films, if the main character is a Princess who has to end up marrying a prince, etcetera, the Prince never seems to have much of a personality. The Prince in Snow White basically hears her singing, walks up to her and joins in for a bit, then nips off at the end. Then, at the end of the film, he comes along, snogs Snow White, and presto! He's the hero! He doesn't even have a name!
That's why I like Cornelius. Not only does he have a name, he also has one of the biggest personalities in the film. And he at least TRIES to kiss Thumbelina before the end of the film! Stupid bee.
What's more, he actually tries to save her HIMSELF! He doesn't need to rely on fairies to help him, probably because he IS a fairy.
When he pops up at the beginning to sing with Thumbelina, he doesn't just join in with her song. He starts a new one! I'd choose Cornelius over Prince Charming anyday. All Prince Charming seems to do is wander around waking up Princesses with kisses.
The other character I love is Cassandra Toad, though I think she only becomes one of your favourites after you reach a certain age. Come on! How many animated characters wear high-heels, mini-mini-mini-MINI-dresses, and have a figure of THAT proportion?! Seriously, if this was a Disney film instead of Warner Bros, Cassandra wouldn't even have passed the drawing board!
And Jaquimo is ADORABLE!
I saw this again(since I last saw it when I was 9)yesterday on five(UK) and I agree with the poster above. I love Cornelius! I also like Thumbelina, but that's obvious. She has a strong personality and she's so beautiful! I remember being 7 and seeing the film for the first time and just staring at her cause she's so pretty!, . That's the good thing about this traditional animation.

Cornelius is really fit for a cartoon character...I'm serious. He manages to be a fairy prince without being impossibly camp and wearing tights, and he's all muscular and rides a BUMBLE BEE. Woww, he's hot. :D And yes, he isn't the conventional prince charming, which makes him awesome.
I also love Hero, the dog. He's just really funny. I don't know why. It might be the bit where Cornelius goes to find Thumbface and sees the room in ruins, and asks Hero what happened and who stole her away, and Hero goes "A Froooawr" :(( It just makes me laugh so much. :D Especially the fact that Cornelius manages to translate "A Froooawrjdfhsjd" into "A toad??" Its really funny.

Definately Mr Beetle! Not only is he voiced by Gilbert Gottfried, he's also a hilarious tribute to those gangster movies of the 30's and of course the top hat, tie and tails of Fred Astaire! And besides, he was the only one who bothered to add clothes for winter, that scarf and those earmuffs were too cute. :P
My favourites were the jitterbugs!!!
I hated thumbelina though because she was too sweet and fickle. she didn't even remember the prince when she thought she was going to be a star!

My favorite character is Cornelius. I wish fairies were real and that they could be like him. For an animated character he is really handsome. I like his eyes and his voice. I don't like Thumbelina. She isn't as pretty as I thought she'd be. I don't think the prince would fall for her in real life. Her hair is so friggin long too. That beetle and Jacquimo are the most annoying characters. So yeah Cornelius is my favorite. That's the only reason I watch it. To hear him sing and to see him fluttering around. Wow if only fantasy could cross over to reality.

And the so very groovy dance he and his white minion beetles dance in sync :) His character just keeps ranting and complaining with that ear-bleeding voice of his ^^ And I agree with a previous comment on those earmuffs and the scarf being too cute ^^
Plus, he's a total perv. Which is always cute in a children's movie ^^;
