They had to get Stone drunk to film the shower scene

Stallone said Stone tried backing out of the nude shower scene on set and refused to take off her robe.

Stallone asked her why and she said, “I'm just sick of nudity.”

He replied, “Well can you get sick of it on someone else's film.” 😄

She refused so Stallone went to his trailer and brought back a bottle of Black Death vodka Michael Douglas gave him.

He said, “After a half-a-dozen shots, we were wet and wild."

My thoughts: Stone knew about the nudity when she signed on so trying to back out at the last moment was unprofessional and inexcusable.

I suspect she was just “sick of the nudity” because she knew it was the only thing she did well.

She's a decent actress. I've seen a lot of her films from the 80s & 90s, some of which were average/poor, but she did have talent.

Yes, her nude scenes in Basic Instinct made her famous, but if all it took for an actress to be successful was to simply get naked, then every 2-bit actress would have Stone's career, which they don't. She had talent to back up her body.

Well said.

Yeah. Watch 'Casino' if you doubt that.

Yeah and also 'Year of the Gun'.

That also applies to acting talent.

There are a multitude of actresses out there more talented than Stone who never had the same career for any number of reasons, mostly luck.

As for nudity, talent and a willingness to perform nude in the right role can make a huge difference in an actress’s career.

Almost every Oscar-winning and nominated Best Actress and Supporting Actress since 1970 have been nude onscreen, some many times.

That's because they never had the X-factor that Stone had. Her main talent was that she was able to play evil & duplicitous characters to a tee e.g. Lori Quaid was the perfect precursor to Catherine Tramell. She was also very similar to the old 1950s hollywood blonde bombshells like Carroll Baker and Marilyn Monroe.

Stone had been plodding away in Hollywood for years before she finally got her break. It took the right director in Paul Verhoeven and the right script from Joe Eszterhas to bring all of her best qualities out into a one (body, face, talent) and thus she became a star.

I’m talking about actresses who do have more talent, charisma and X-factor than her.

And that’s a lot of them.

Stone was in several films and shows in bit roles before Basic Instinct and no one cared.

She became a star because of the publicity of her showing her snatch.

Even after that, nothing she starred in was a prominent hit except Casino, and it wasn’t because of her.

I did enjoy The Quick and the Dead but not because she was the star.

Anyone could have filled that role.

Since then, it’s been forgettable movies and TV episodes.

Few people even know she’s still acting today.

So much for her X-factor.

Well, can you name some of them? In Hollywood the cream rises to the top. You either have star quality or you don't (well, at least back in stone's heyday).

She became a star because of the publicity of her showing her snatch.

Elizabeth Berkley did the same in Verhoeven's Showgirls and she vanished soon after because she didn't have stone's screen presence.

Sliver made over $120m worldwide, I remember it being everywhere in '93. Add that to Basic Instinct, Casino and Total Recall and she was in a few hits.

Stone was also in a number of critically acclaimed films such as 'The Last Dance' (where she played a death row inmate) and 'The Mighty'. These roles may not have been box office hits, but they did show off her ability to act without taking her clothes off.
