Only 1 in 10 people like this movie

And I am that 1.

I've had to defend The Shadow several times, so I decided to do a podcast about it.

THE SHADOW KNOWS...

I must be one from another group of ten! Such a fun movie.

Giddy-up, goat!

reply

I am one of the other nine.

Had fond memories of watching this film as a kid, but just tried to sit through it again and couldn't bear it. Absolute tosh. "The sun is shining.... but the ice is slippery"?!

Shocking.

All that says to me is that one person in ten is more clever, original and imaginative than the other nine...;)

I love The Shadow... I show it to as many of my friends as possible, it very rarely takes. =(
But I like knowing that I am not the only one out there who loves it.

Just Yesterday watched this one again and still its nice superhero movie!

Dunno if anyone else thought this but i thought this and Burton's first Batman has same mood and style a bit :)

A lot of people think that, they are two of my favourite films. I think this one tops it in terms of faithfulness to the character, and is certainly a lot lighter and more playful.

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

''Dunno if anyone else thought this but i thought this and Burton's first Batman has same mood and style a bit :)''

I disagree, the moods were slightly different. Burton's film was slightly more camp (not as camp as the sequel) and not as grounded in a specific time. Both have noir influences (in Burton's film, the shootout at ACE Chemicals etc. and the whole of the Shadow film). The films are actually rather different.

''It's a very cool flick. Especially if you've done your research on the occult.''

It is mostly just Buddhism, and whilst the influence of Buddhism on the Occult is rather great, they should not be equated. This isn't to say that the film contained no Occult elements, though.

''Considering I really don't like comic book movies or the superhero genre in general, I'll hold it up as a testament to just a great FUN movie''

Probably because the film is more of a supernatural noir film.

'' He's easy to relate to as a character, and comes across as genuine - something few superhero movies to well at presenting''

Agree with this. And if you haven't seen it yet, you should watch Sam Raimi's 'Darkman'. the character in that film is quite an ordinary guy you can somewhat relate to (despite being a scientist) and rather likeable. He is also influenced by the Shadow.
