oh great....snother super hero without superpowers

the spirit, daredevil, the punisher, why do filmmakers seem so intent on making these movies with heros that have no powers.

they usually always do poorly at the box office yet time and time again serious filmakers pick them to make movies about when there is such wealth of other super heros with powers they could actually use.

daredevil had a superpower

reply

Batman has no super powers, and look at those movies' box office.

Daredevil has powers and so does The Shadow.

You had better decide whether you're hangin' on the cross... or bangin' in the nails.

As does The Spirit in the movie. The OP has clearly never seen any of the movies he's complaining about.

Furthermore, since when does a character need superpowers to be interesting and exciting?

Ah, a troll. How quaint. Probably a WOW addict sore at the turn of events.

What, superpowers equal quality?

I prefer superheroes without superpowers, myself. One that relies on human wits and strengths (not necessarily muscles, but agility as well). Makes them much cooler and, dare I say, realistic. That's not to say I don't enjoy Spider-Man and the like, though.

EDIT: After having seen this movie, I do wonder why the hell you chose to make this post here. The Shadow has superpowers. Did you even see the movie?

@very3 to go a little further on the subject The heroes you listed are basically men whom have trained to the limits of human development to fight humans and neo-human foes. The reason they don't do well is basically most were quick knock offs and all were either poorly casted/directed and the characters were not really fleshed out well. C'mon a guy that uses radar to see, trained by ninja mystic warriors or a man consumed by revenge for a family lost, trained by the military to kill or a hero that just doesn't die-a protector of his city. You have my interest!

These characters kept millions amused for decades in a 2d format! It was when Hollywood stepped in did the concept go bad. It seems only a few folks in Hollywood get it (Nolan, Goyer Miller, etc) the whole concept of a human putting on a costume fighting guys with guns is wild and crazy ! The problem is balance and Nolan figured it out, you can't please EVERYBODY but find the middle ground and you could have a blockbuster! Nolan kept the film as grounded in reality as possible and that made his world open to even the non-comic fans! You can have high tech and supernatural elements just make it believable!

I've always been a bigger fan of the lesser or non powered heroes like The Shadow or Doc Savage. Guys who do the job on equal or near equal terms ,guys that could be hurt or die. Anyone can be Batman just have tunnel vision , a few billions and the right cause for example Doc Savage . A lot of the guys making these films have never read any of the works on which they're based . Please don't blame the characters blame the writers, directors and designers who refuse input from the fans. And lastly -300, Hellboy, Superman, The Dark Knight, History of Violence ,Spiderman, Blade, Wanted, Conan, The Crow, The Road to Perdition, The Mask- these were all comic based movies that did well.So it can be done!

I prefer films about superheroes without superpowers, Batman is WAY more compelling then Superman because e has so much more to lose....Superman is almost invincible, good thing everyone has a big supply of Kryptonite hanging around ;)

Why do posters here seem intent on posting about films they've clearly never seen?
