The only true flaw in this movie, Tarantino's acting

You guys can try to rationalize it and defend it all you want, but it truly is dreadful, laughably bad acting, especially this scene

I agree he's not a good actor, but I've never thought that in this case it's so bad it ruins the movie. It doesn't even ruin the scene.

A flaw or creative license, but with all the time spend in the last story at Hawthorne Grill, so you think no customer would enter to eat or a passing walker wouldn't notice. And all those patrons eating aren't acting in a real way for that period of time - not that they were the focus of the action. Hey, it's movie, not real life, but still was quite out of character for the whole place.

English *beep* do you speak it?

I don't mind him so much in this one; he's basically playing himself. It was more of an issue in Django Unchained, where his awful Australian accent and over-the-top performance practically destroyed the third act of the film.

reply

His character does seem to be rather shoe-horned in.

reply

And it is probably his best role! He sucks as an actor indeed.

I'm not as down on QT's acting as most, but it definitely could've been better. I read somewhere that this was supposed to be Steve Buscemi's role but he had scheduling conflicts and had to take the smaller Buddy Holly role instead.

While I personally don't think QT was terrible, Buscemi would've murdered that role. I can see him leering at the Wolf's stack of money saying Oak is nice. Or berating Jules over the coffee. It would've made an already perfect movie that much better.

Damnit.... maybe they can CGI Buscemi in there somehow.

reply

yes it was and steve buscemi was busy so he couldn't play the role so instead he took the more minor role in the movie.

QT's acting in Django Unchained is explosive. 

Inger, you must rot, because the times are rotten.

QT has zero talent as an actor. Zero, zilch, nada.

I saw Reservoir Dogs in the theater before Quentin Tarantino became a household name, and we didn't know what he looked like. If you didn't know it was him playing Mr. Brown, you'd have just thought he was another unknown actor.

"I'm playing a role, sir. What are you doing?"

I honestly thought the Jimmy stuff was hilarious. But like someone else said, put him in a room with Sam Jackson, Harvey Keitel and John Travolta, of course he's going to look bad. But his acting has never been bad enough to ruin a scene, outside maybe the Death Proof one.
