A movie I consider a 'guy' version of Muriel's Wedding is Proof, an Australian movie with Hugo Weaving and Russell Crowe. Both of those movies pretty much tie for second place on my top 10 list. And Proof should not be confused with Proof of Life, an American movie also starring Russell Crowe.
I also agree with Amelie and Little Miss Sunshine. My Best Friend's Wedding also has a similar vibe, directed by the same person, I believe. Not as good, of course but worth a look.
