I gotta agree with NC on this one, the movie completely screwed up its own message (don't run from the past, learn from it), instead the message is: If you go back and own up to your mistakes no one will ever support you again unless you can prove that you didn't actually make the mistake.

No they didn't. Taking responsibility was exactly what Simba did, and he did it in all areas in his life even when he didn't know he wasn't responsible for his father's death. And even when he found out, he still took responsibility when he became king.

"He admits to accidentally killing Mufasa, and nobody is behind him."

Doug continues to miss the point about what's really going on in this scene - badly. He ignored the fact that a confession like Simba's would leave his loved ones in shock (I mean really, would you think clearly if your loved one admitted fault for the death of another loved one? No, you wouldn't.), and that it gave Scar plenty of opportunity to dispose of Simba without anyone interfering. The lionesses weren't there to see the stampede happen, so they don't have the right to accuse Scar of any wrongdoing. Not only that, but Simba's admission of guilt explained a lot to them already, including why he never came back until now.

"No one even stops Scar as he backs Simba over a cliff, they just let him do it."

Um, hello? Simba was being backed over the edge of the cliff by Scar AND HIS 20-SOME HYENA ARMY. Heck, he even included that part in his video clip while saying that, destroying his own argument and shooting himself in the foot! How would anyone be able to interfere on Simba's behalf at that point? (also, they were were still in shock over his confession!)

God people, this scene is not hard to understand! Stop acting like it is, and stop taking it out of context!

"Simba: Run. Run away, Scar, and never return.

NC: That line was a lot cooler when Irons said it. Even Scar looks kind of unimpressed."

No, Scar looked fearful, you insufferable twit.

Seriously though, Doug did not need to review this movie. His Disneycember review of The Lion King was more than bad enough.
