He was perfect as the bad guy. I was staring at him the whole movie...for some reason he was my favorite character, even though he was the snooty, evil British dude. He's got charm, which makes him even a better bad guy.
Any other thoughts?

It's interesting that you say that, because while he is a great villian, he also makes a charming and funny hero (see Princess Bride and Robin Hood: Men In Tights).

He's one of my favourite actors. He's a pretty good one too, you're right. He is good as both hero or villain.

He is the only character in the movie that shot Mowgli, even if it was only a flesh wound, and in the last fight, when he had the sword, he made Mowgli look like a total fool. I thought he was taunting Mowgli just by making him stumble around like an animal.

Well unlike you white females - I do agree he was a good badass. His part was forgettable along with the other villanious actors. But whoever said he made Mowgli look like a fool is a fool him/herself. JSL is awesome and definetely was the real reason I watched this.

Cary Elwes was an interesting villan. Since a lot of the movie revolves around anti-imperialism, Elwes also serves as a personification of imperialism's bad qualities. Among these include: impatience and antagonism against native values, greed, over-ambition, and ruthlessness. He also is very charming and charismatic. Overall he made a great villan.
