Did he HAVE to hang the dog?
I mean, I understand him having to "put it out of its misery", but was it necessary to string it up by it's collar and shoot it while it was dangling?
That scene is difficult to watch.

I agree with others that say tying him up gives Fresh a better target and quicker way to kill the dog. It would be more difficult if the dog was able to move around.
Although I am one of the people that have a hard time understanding the need to actually kill the dog. The only thing I can think of is that Fresh thought he would probably end up dead and didn't know who could take care of the dog. So he felt he was showing the dog mercy.
I guess I didn't see the dog act vicious enough to convince me he would be violent and turn on people. I figured the dog was defending himself when being attacked. Kind of like there are abused dogs that are taken care of instead of put down even though they might turn on someone.
Maybe it might have helped the scene if it showed him trying to find the dog a home first. Wouldn't there have been a pound or place that takes dogs to find a good home? Or is the neighborhood supposed to be so bad that they don't even have that as an option?
