films like this

i love these kind of films, bloody cartoons like Watership Down, Plague Dogs, Silver Fang and ofcourse Felidae, Can you people recomend other films like these,

The Secret of NIMH. Though its not really bloody it is certinly dark for a kids film. Or anything by Ralph Bakshi really.

There was also a Japanese adaptation of "Call of the Wild" and "Lassie", though I cant find it anywhere.

The animated anime movie "Dog of Flanders" (1997) which is a recap of the 70s series is also very touching.

The recent 13 episode Korean series "White Heart Baekgu". It is also about dogs.

the short film "Dog" by Suzie Templeton and her other feature titled "Peter and the Wolf".

Look for a 1971 Studio Zagreb film titled "The Cat" (Not Maxicat).

And the famous cat sequence in the animated film "Allegro non Tropo".

And some sequences of "Rita and Runt" in "Animaniacs"

Ginga Nagareboshi Gin (dogs)
Ginga Densetsu Weed (dogs)
Chirin no Suzu aka "The Ringing Bell" (wolf and sheep/ram)
Vuk (foxes) though I don't know that this one is necessarily as bloody, I only vaguely remember it from my childhood.. I think it was a bit dark though.

Also as previously mentioned.. the Japanese version of Call of the Wild. Its not on DVD, if you hunt really hard you can find it (English version) on VHS though.

This is the cat one. There's a rat one, a rabbit one, a sheep one, and a dog one.

This is so spot on. Obviously NIMH, WD, Ringing Bell and Plague Dogs. There's a lot of other suggestions here and I keep following the links, but really, are there any other animated films that are doing the same kind of thing? (yeah I love Miyazaki too, but it isn't the same.) Mouse and his Child deserves mention here.

Been dodging Felidae for so long, can't figure out why, it's clearly amazing.

good thread. i've only seen Ringing Bell which is dark and classic.

Say, has anybody seen Wizards? It's a fantasy set in a post-apocalyptic setting that has adult themes, but it does not star humans nor animals (it instead has fantasy creatures as the stars). It's a good animation like these kinds of films are.
