Mia Kirshner underage at filming?

Hey, love the movie, and I'm a big fan of Mia Kirshner's

Now this came out in 1994' and Mia was born in 76'

So in 86 she was 10 years old.

In 96' she would have been 20

But if this was in 94'

That would mean she's 18 in it.

But wait, her birthday is the 25th of January, so if they filmed the nude scens in 93'

Then she was underage when they where filmed, when was the movie filmed?

Whatever "underage" means differs from place to place. In Canada, the age of consent is 16, 14 with parental permission.

First and foremost I loved the movie and love Mia. If you remember in the movie the whole reason that Francis was kicked out, and the whole plan of the DJ was to get him to touch her. Then the whole elaborate plan for Thomas the pet store owner to touch her and get kicked out for it, so that Francis could shoot him. All of this is indicative of the fact that the rule was that the girls danced without being touched. When Mia was actually nude and you could actually see anything I believe it was not in the scene that he touched her. Furthermore, when he did it was on her leg and benign. So in closing, there is no merit for this to be obscene, sexual, or in anyway indecent with a minor in any countrym and keeps the artistic theme. I may be wrong but please let me know what you think.

P.S. The laws in America are different in America than in any other country, and more strict in this area. There is a difference in between nudity and obscenity, for example there are nudist camps and villages across the nation where there are nude children who spend there lives in this manner. In these "colonies" there are never any arrests. At most all of these places if an adult is aroused in public they are asked to leave. These groups also publish newsletters and magazines to it's members and the law enforcement and other authorities have not banned it. This leaves the conclusion of the definition of obscene differing from nudity.

We're Canadian. Not American. We do not worry about such things.

consent. Where I live the age of consent is 15 used to be 14 however legal age is 18.

Okay, I am from Montréal, but I dunno much about this either.

Take another example of a Canadian movie, "Lost in Delirious" was released in 20 July 2001 (USA), when it was shot at Lennoxville, QC assumingly a year earlier, since the exterior scenes indicate it was at least after May in Quebec. Jessica Paré, one of the lead, was born in December, 1982, which means when she did the shooting, she was possibly turning 18. The sexual content she was involved was a lesbian sex scene.

So I guess Mia was not doing anything over-explicitly, as her shirt was on all the time, and possibly she got her nipple flashed in half a second, accidentally. And yes, she got her dad signed it for her, which she said she wasn't sure what she was doing, but appreciated her dad not limiting her career later on when she did an interview.

I don't intend to be offensive, but I have to defend my opinions.

she was born in 1975. so even in 94 she'd still be 19 yrs old. discussion over!!

iam going to do a big huge bump here.

firstly i hardly call what Mia does in this film nudity. I just watched the film for the first time an hour ago so it've very fresh in my mind. There was a 2 second flash where you can see her nipple or the shadow of her nipple which looked more like a slippage error to me but other than that the rest of the movie, she had her underwear on and her nipples covered up. you only can see her cleavage or some underwear flashing. that is hardly what i call a nude scene.

Most teenagers nowadays walk out out of the house with the lowest tops and cleavage hanging and low rider jeans with their thong and bum crack showing. Most teens are doing that now. it is not much different.

Barely legal I guess.

She was fully nude, and you definitely saw her breasts and rear at least, in the Canadian film, The Little Girl Who Lived Down the Lane. (Fantastic movie regardless.) I remember being surprised about this at first, especially since she got under the covers naked with Scott Jacoby.

FYC: Michael Fassbender, Shame; & Tilda Swinton, We Need to Talk About Kevin.

Her older sister (Connie?) doubled Jodie for her scene in that film...

IMDB says she was born in '75, not '76...

In any case, even if she were a minor, it's still possible to obtain permission (see Thora Birch... )

This is a professional movie; do you really think they'd risk censure if it was simple to avoid it?! Of course it was above board!

First off, what Mia Kirshner does in this movie isn't quite what I would call nudity. It's a conceit of the movie, but it wouldn't go over in any strip club where patrons would definitely want to see the stripper TAKE OFF the Catholic school uniform. Second, you can not always trust the dates in the IMDB. Actresses, for instance, might say they're younger than they really are to extend their "shelf life" (and the IMDB has been usued in the past for revealing real ages).

But the age of consent is not black or white even in America. Brook Shields had nude scenes in "Pretty Baby" when she was 11! But then later she used a body double for "The Blue Lagoon" and "Endless Love". It might have just been because she demanded it in her later movies, but maybe they also assumed she was more likely to incite lust at 15-17 than at 11 (which seems naive today given how lousy America is with pedophiles). There is logic to that though. No one complains about Sofia Coppola's "nude scene" in "The Godfather" (she was the newborn baby at the end).

Kirshner would probably incite a lot lust in this, but not because she necessarily gets very naked (hardly at all really). But even Hollywood movies have no problem casting unusually attractive teenage girls, under-dressing them (when they don't underdress themselves), and leering at them. And threads like this are always at least 6 pages long on the mostly American IMDB, so I think there is some prurient interest here masquerading as moral concern.

There was also Olivia Hussey in Romeo and Juliet in 1968. She was only 17 at the time. Zefferelli had to get special permission to show her topless. She was also not legally allowed to go to the opening, because she was under 18. Even though the nude scene was her own.

I find it hard to believe that she could not attend the opening. She is less than two months younger than me and I saw it in first release when I was 17. This was before film ratings and age restrictions came out in America. I think the premiere was in London when she was 16, just a few days shy of her 17th birthday. I think the A certificate allowed her to attend

Oh Lord, you gave them eyes but they cannot see...
