Favorite moment?

What's your favorite moment in this movie? There are 2 for me that my wife and I have quoted for decades:

"A man his size would move a wall!"

"Let's shoot this *beep*

"...And far away in his cage, the monkey smiled with his all-seeing eyes."

I have to vote for Bela and the octopus as well...that was absolutely hysterical.

I also loved when Bela arrived at rehab and admitted he needed help...so heartbreaking. I also have to agree the scene where Ed meets Orson Welles was perfection...D'Onofrio nailed it.

-Bela monologue as the evil Doctor. Both his street performance and the one Ed was 'filming'.

-Anytime Ed says 'Cut. Print!'

-The Bela 'I'm so broke.'

-'I like to dress in womens clothes... *You're a fruit?*.. No I love women! Wearing their clothes makes me feel closer to them.'

There's so many to list.

Confound your lousy toll.. TROLL!

How about when Bela was showing Ed the hand thing with Vampira on TV? Eddie almost seems to be taking it seriously - it's like a father and son moment, except creepy and funny.

reply

Lugosi - "Boris Karloff? That British bastard doesn't deserve to smell my sh!t"!

also, "I don't drive a car in this town - too many maniacs on the road"

Wood (explaining wearing women's underwear in the Marines) - "my biggest fear was getting wounded, and the medics would discover my secret"

the part where Tor Johnson is struggling to climb out of the grave, so Wood tells the 2 actors dressed as cops to help him out - and they film it! Didn't see that movie, it'd be off the hook if it really shows 2 cops helping an alien monster climb out of a grave right after robbing it!

And of course, the surreal Sarah Jessica Parker moment, reading the reviews from the 1st play - "Do I have a horse face"?

reply

The part where they're at the wrestling match and Bill Murray says 'goodbye penis' and the people around him seem to take a slight notice.
Then the sort of shocked expression on Sarah Jessica Parker's face when she hears it notwithstanding the fact that she's lumped between a transexual and a cross dresser while sitting in the middle of the most red blooded stereotypically heterosexual environment are just perfect.

That idea aint' worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin gettin' it on.
